Summer Survival – 5 Tips for Mom

Summer Survival – 5 Tips for Mom

This is the last week of school for my 4 kids. I’m looking forward to not having nightly homework, I mean, for THEM not to have nightly homework. čśë Seriously, though, I’m excited about the adventures I’m going to have with my kiddos: trips to the beach, the pool, walks in the neighborhood, and VACATION!! However, with this excitement also comes a *teeny* bit of dread. Don’t scoff at me! LOL! I know that after a few days of being home, my kids are going to start in with the “I’m bored” mess. And I do not have time for that! So, if you’re like me, and need a few tips to survive the summer here ya go. To keep boredom at bay, have TO DO LISTS for your littles. This could include: cleaning their rooms, walking the family...

4 Life Lessons My Kid (and I) Learned while Striking Out

4 Life Lessons My Kid (and I) Learned while Striking Out

We just wrapped up baseball season for my middle kiddle. He could not have been on a better team – fantastic coaches, sweet kids, and great parents. Our first experience with him playing was so wonderful. On our way to his last ballgame, he was reciting to us the 4 rules that his Coach taught the team this season: Listen Respect Hustle Be Tough As my son was telling us about them, I couldn’t help but think how perfectly they relate to ALL of life, not just baseball. It was a fleeting thought and one I planned to discuss with my hubby as we sat and watched the game. But, that talk never happened. We got caught up in the game and never had a chance (and let’s be real here – I just forgot). My boy struggled the last half of the season with...

The Hard Work

The Hard Work

I am raising 4 kids. It’s the hard work. The daily grind. The stay-consistent-or-you-will-regret-it job of shaping ninja babies into respectable people. Some days it feels like “them” against “us”. And, truthfully, it IS that way. I’m facing a season right now with my oldest that is straining. I’m white knuckling it through this journey and holding on to my title of parent, as hard as I can. I breathe prayers almost one moment to the next in an effort to gain power from my Heavenly Father. I beg HIM to give me strength through this roller coaster of teenager. ┬á “God, guide me as I parent this strong child. Shield him from the enemy. HELP ME as I do my best as his mother. Protect his mind from evil things. Help HIM...

Momma Time in a (Crazy) Busy World

Being a Mommy is tough work, girls. It’s draining. It’s like running a marathon. We prepare for 9-10 months (or up to years in the cases of adoption) to bring a little life into your home. We baby proof everything, read parenting blogs and books, and set a room devoted to that wee cherub. Then for 18 *or more* years, we train, nurture, encourage, and discipline those little humans to become productive adults. It takes lots and lots of hard work. Parenting is not an easy task. It is not for the faint of heart. And most Mama’s that I know do not take enough time for themselves! But, you know what I’ve discovered? I am a better Mom if I take time for myself each week. Mommy time can be a long, hot bath… without little fingers sticking...
