Grapefruit and Grapefruit Vitality

Grapefruit and Grapefruit Vitality

One of my very favorite Essential Oils is Grapefruit. It smells just like you’ve cut open a big, juicy grapefruit. Not only does it smell AMAZING, but it also tastes great added to water or even tea. It has an uplifting aroma when it is being diffused and it just makes you happy! 🙂

Grapefruit (Citrus paradisi) Vitality™ is known for its invigorating citrus scent and delicious, tart taste. Grapefruit Vitality essential oil can also support weight-management programs when taken internally and paired with a healthy diet and exercise.* Add Grapefruit Vitality oil to water to give your drinks a little zing, or add a hint of citrus by incorporating it into culinary recipes. Give NingXia Red® an extra boost of flavor with a couple drops of Grapefruit Vitality.

The Science behind grapefruit:

According to http://www.nutrition-and-you.com Grapefruit is rich in phytonutrients like lycopene, vitamin A, and beta-carotene. It  is an excellent source of antioxidant vitamin-C that helps the body develop resistance against infectious agents and scavenge harmful free radicals. It helps promote healthy skin and may give your weight regimen a boost.

Here is a bath-time treat you can make at home using Grapefruit Essential Oil! (Includes affiliate links)

What you need:

1/2 cup Citric Acid

1 cup Baking Soda

2 tbsp Shea Butter

10 – 20 drops of Grapefruit Essential Oil

Silicone Molds or Small Muffin Tin

Directions:

Mix together the citric acid and baking soda. Heat the shea butter in the microwave. Add the butter to the dry mixture along with the essential oil. If the mixture is too dry, MIST lightly with water. Squeeze the mixture together and if it holds its shape, you’re good to go. Press (firmly) the mixture into a silicone mold or tin and let harden for 4-6 hours. The longer they “set up” in the mold, the better. Store them in an airtight container until ready to use.

Tip:

Use this recipe with many different essential oils, not just grapefruit! Try Lavender, Patchouli, or Stress Away!

I have a learning group on Facebook that is called Oil of the Month. We are tackling 1 oil per month to learn and share about. This month we are learning about Grapefruit Oil. If you are interested in joining that group (only requirement is to purchase the oil of the month) then shoot me an email and I’ll add you!

Until next time,

Joy
